Be it a small grant or a big collaborative research project proposal: We all apply for funding at some point, and it can seem like a daunting task to many of us. During this workshop, the experts from the Grants and Innovation Office at Gothenburg University teach us how to give our grant applications the competitive edge. Join us!
Space is limited and spots are given on a first come, first serve basis, so be quick! We can partly reimburse some participants for limited travel expenses.
The workshop takes place just a day before Polarforum and APECS Sweden’s annual meeting on November 8, which makes it easier for you to attend all three events.
APECS Sweden thanks APECS International for its financial support of this workshop.
At our annual meeting in Gothenburg on November 8, APECS Sweden elects its next executive secretary and steering committee members for 2019.
Being a part of APECS Sweden is an exciting opportunity. It means broadening your network and collaborating with other APECS members across research institutions over the whole country. It helps you to engage with other polar researchers, for instance by arranging and coordinating events on a local level. But you also become a part of the international APECS community that brings together early career researchers from many different countries, institutions and disciplinary backgrounds. As part of the APECS leadership, you can join APECS working groups and projects that match your professional interests, and get the opportunity to travel and attend international events.
Executive Secretary – Tasks, Eligibility, Compensation
Among other things, the executive secretary
- coordinates APECS Sweden’s activities
- calls for regular board meetings
- documents APECS Sweden’s activities through a yearly report to APECS International
- performs or delegates administrative tasks of daily operation
Early career researchers based in Sweden and working in polar or alpine research from all disciplinary backgrounds are eligible to apply. The executive secretary is elected for one year.
Phd students are especially encouraged to apply, since APECS Sweden has time compensation agreements with different departments at several Swedish universities that provide 10% of full time employment compensation for PhD students for the maximum duration of one year. Other universities and departments at times establish ad-hoc agreements to enable this compensation. To find out whether your department is part of this agreement, please get in touch with us.
Would you like to become our next executive secretary? Then please send us your letter of interest to email@example.com
– and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
