DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that APECS Sweden is back in action! After a period of inactivity\, we invite all members to participate in our annual meeting scheduled for December 18\, 2024\, at 13:00/1:00 PM on Zoom. This meeting will serve as a platform to reconnect and discuss the future of our organization. \n\nIn the landscape of polar-focused networks and research centers\, we believe there is a gap in support specifically for early-career scientists. APECS aims to fill this gap by providing a platform where young researchers can connect\, collaborate\, and grow in an interdisciplinary environment. \nWe invite you to join us in reimagining and expanding our vision for APECS Sweden. Together\, let’s build a vibrant\, supportive community for the next generation of polar scientists! \nThe new board consists of:\nFreja Fagerholm\, Executive Secretary\, Umeå University\nRebecca Tapper\, Treasurer\, Umeå University\nPaul Schmidt\, board member\, Umeå University\nAnngelica Kristoferqvist\, board member\, Umeå University\nMarcus Aronsson\, board member\, Umeå University \nBoard Vacancies\nPolar research is being carried out all across Sweden and it is important that the board reflects this reality. The board currently has five vacant seats which we are hoping to fill in the upcoming annual meeting. If you see yourself as someone who wants a more active membership role as a board member\, please send us an email at apecs.sweden@gmail.com with your name and a few sentences about you and your vision for APECS Sweden no later than December 13\, 2024 so we can put you on the list of nominees. The new board will be democratically elected during the annual meeting. \nUpcoming Conference\nThe APECS board would also like to take this opportunity to give you a little teaser about an upcoming conference for APECS members we are currently planning to take place in the spring of next year. While it is too early to give much detail about this event\, we can say that we have been in talks with potential funders with very positive but not definitive results.
